Moving On

Do you ever realize how the really big events in life are generally the ones where you don't think to take pictures until the last minute (if at all, in some cases)? Well, that would be what happened here.

Let me back up. It is no secret, now, that we have sold our home and have moved. I have hinted far too long before actually getting around to this post, but under the circumstances, I think I can give a pretty good excuse (or many!) So, let me tell you how it happened. We contemplated, awhile back (if you remember the for sale post) selling our home and moving east- a little closer to Provo. We listed it for sale, although somewhat uncompetetively in price (we just weren't sure exactly where we were going, so if it sold at a higher price- great. If not, we weren't in any hurry), for about six months before we decided we were going to stay (at least for another year, we predicted.) Well, unknown to us at the time, before that year even got started, would be this new business decision that would relocate us a whole lot farther than the small move east we had been planning.

So, about four months after taking it off the market, we put it back up for sale. Although more competitively priced this time, we expected to have the same results as before, if not worse due to market conditions. The difference and problem this time- we NEEDED to sell the home as soon as possible. Well, to our relief, amazement, and aid- our house sold to the first couple who came to see it, and even more to our surprise came a quick move out date (two weeks!). With the market in Eagle Mountain they way that it is, the time of year and other factors against us, this was nothing short of a miracle. We have no doubt that we are doing what we are supposed to be doing and that we are being blessed in the process.

There is no describing (unless you have experienced similar before) the difficulty of packing up and moving a 5 bedroom home in two weeks. Especially when you are condensing and moving that home into a storage unit! The most we had moved before was a one bedroom apartment for just the two of us. Two munchkins, four bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, and two family rooms- MORE- you have a whole different situation on your hands. Not to mention the three and a half years of milestone memories (two babies turning into toddlers) in a home you love that have been created in the process.

So, it was with a mixture of emotions: relief, saddness, excitement and anxiety (as well as a lot of help from family) that we said good-bye to our Eagle Mountain home and moved on.
So, where are we now? We, along with the bare minimum amount of belongings are living in Kaysville with my parents (who have been so great in letting us co-live for an undetermined amount of time. They thought their quite, empty nest stage was just getting started. Little did they know they would be sharing the first part of that with two wild little monkeys!) and the rest of our life is quite expertly packed in a storage unit.
Considering our world has, in a pretty real sense, been turned upside down- we are doing great. The boys seem to understand that we no longer live at our old home, but until we have a new home to call our own, I don't think they will grasp the full concept. They are happy as can be living at Grandma Tina's and other than some major difficulties in getting them to sleep in the same room- correction, go to sleep before 11:00pm, in the same room (and the natural attitudes sleep deprivation creates at times), they seem to be adjusting just fine. Although, in my opinion, work keeps him as busy as any job, Andrew is eager to "get to work", which to him has always been: crazy hours, deadlines, stress and all. He is spending countless hours getting this visa processed, but it has been nice to have him around. Add all the goings on of Christmas, and we are keeping quite busy. Thanks to some help from my doctor, pregnancy is going a LITTLE more smoothly, and I am trying to be grateful that I don't have three right at this moment rather than wishing I was done. All in all, we are grateful to be in the position we are in!

I know this was the condensed version of a pretty major event, but I guess that is what happens when you have so much to catch up on. I'll try to stay on top of things when we move again so you get more details, and more importantly- more pictures!
