Finally Five

I say that because I believe Tristan started counting down to his fifth birthday when Gavin turned five...which means he wasn't even four! With every birthday, he realizes that no matter what he does, how much he grows, or how much time passes- he will never be as old as Gavin. Somehow, now that he is finally five, this doesn't seem to matter as much. After all...five year olds get to do just about everything six year olds do! Shhh...if you can think of anything six year olds get to do that five year olds don't- please keep it to yourself. It is a happy day around here when our Tristan is a content little bug. Which is exactly what he was on his birthday...see for yourself.

If you haven't noticed, birthdays this year were a little smaller scale than usual. Tristan's was no exception. You can see the boxes in the background (we were moving in one week!) and by that point, the majority of our friends and family his age had already moved away leaving no one left for a party. To make matters worse, all he wanted was a Nemo birthday, but we couldn't find Nemo party supplies anywhere. So, we settled on a "favorite things" theme and he got just that. A Curious George balloon, a Despicable Me cake, Star Wars paper products, Cars presents and more. Turned out to be better than a Nemo theme...at least if you ask him! So, even though it was just our family (as it was for Emma's), his birthday was still a happy one and he is five years old...no matter how much I try to stop it!
